Airport & Port Services

We are committed to our client’s success by delivering superior engineering through our focus on aviation and port projects – from runway, taxiway and port terminal pavements to airport and port terminal buildings, to wharves and navigation channel maintenance and expansion projects. Moreover, we are dedicated to delivering peace of mind through listening, taking ownership, keeping commitments, and staying in touch.

Runway & Taxiway Pavement

Through non-destructive testing of pavement stiffness and thickness, along with extensive experience with determining aircraft pavement loads, we determine how to best extend pavement life considering current condition and other project constraints.  We are experienced in field operations in airside environments including the critical importance of FOD discipline.

Port Terminal Pavement

We are experts in port pavements including determining how to rehabilitate existing pavements and construct new pavements based on non-destructive testing results and evaluation of terminal pavement loads from RTG, top-pick, containers and other loading.  Our employees have TWIC cards and are able to access port facilities easily for field operations.

Dredging Projects

We use US Army Corps of Engineers software such as SETTLE and PSDDF, with related test data from our laboratory, to evaluate current disposal or beneficial use site capacity and assess dike height needs. We also evaluate navigation channel side stability and the potential impacts of channel widening/deepening on nearby existing facilities.

Wharf Design

Designing wharf facilities to achieve the water depth, crane load,  and deck load requirements for the facility with adequate global stability.

Houston Ship Channel

Expanding Houston Ship Channel While Benefiting the Environment

In 2016, a new class of ships began traversing the Panama Canal. Dubbed the “Neo Panamax,” these ships reached lengths of 1,200 feet long, 168 feet wide, and up to 50-foot draft, with up to 14,000 container capacity. Shortly thereafter, these ships began transiting the Houston Ship Channel to terminals at Port Houston.
