Project Background

The Amarillo Loop Project

State Loop (SL) 335 around the City of Amarillo serves as a connection to national and regional corridors along with local arterials. The TxDOT Amarillo District and the Amarillo Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) have identified SL 335 as a top priority transportation project candidate with the goal of upgrading the entire loop to a controlled access freeway with three-level interchanges (I-40, I-27 and US 87).

The Problem

Upgrading State Loop (SL) 335 to a controlled access freeway to improve mobility, connectivity and safety for Amarillo residents, visitors and the traveling public.

Our Solution

HVJ Associates® provided geotechnical engineering services for the approximate 2-mile design of Segment B-1, From FM 2590 to Bell Street. HVJ was able to provide timely and efficient service through knowledge of TxDOT Amarillo District Standards and practices that helped the prime firm, Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc., complete the design.
